Jan 04, Neva rated it did not like it This book is so hilariously dumb that I would recommend it to all of you just for the taste of the most perfect tastelessness, combined with lack of literary skills, shame and logic.
May 15, Anna Maria rated it it was amazing Wonderful. Well written and intriguing. I recommend it to all those who appreciate thrillers Oct 17, Liliana rated it did not like it I could not empathise with the characters, they remained far away in their rich, intelligent, beautiful bubble.
I went into it thinking it would be some interesting crime murder mystery thing grounded in reality and what I got was some off beat urban fantasy thing that was trying to pass itself off as being grounded in reality. And like two chapters later, the I kind of really hated this one. And like two chapters later, the victim of said rape is walking around New York a city she does not live in by herself at dusk.
Does Faletti have any idea about women? Like at all? She quite clearly says that they thought she was a boy but during puberty she developed breasts and went through a female puberty. This is literally spelt out. But the main guy who is also in love with her is shocked any time someone finds out that she has a dick and then continue to call her a girl.
And it frustrates me to no end that this happens. She was born both male and female. Anyway, there is so much wrong and frustrating about this book I am surprised I managed to finish it. Also the villainous monologue at the end is so utterly ridiculous and the character does a full and there are no clues that it was actually them and god is it frustrating. End rant.
